There were two main reasons:(1) Marie Antoinette, King Louis XVI's wife, was from the Austrian noble family. If the French monarchy would be overthrown, there was a serious risk for Marie Antoinette's safety. These concerns were eventually proven when the French executed her.(2) A threat against monarchy anywhere was a threat against monarchy everywhere. The arguments of the French Revolution could be turned against the Austrian monarchy.
Their main palace was ofcourse the Versailles palace. Besides Versailles they had quite some locations they often went to: Fontainbleu, Rambouillet (their summer palace), and eventually the Tuillerie Palace.
Marie Antoinette was born into Austrian royalty in 1755. For political reasons she was pledged to marry a king of France. At a very young age, 14 she was married to the King of France Louis XVI. This happened in 1770. Her new title was Queen of France. All was fine for awhile, however her political marriage to Louis XVI turned out badly for her. France had just helped out the Americans against the British, but France was not a prosperous place for the commoners there. By 1789 the French people were in rebellion. It was a bloody rebellion. The leaders were not exactly honorable men. Irregardless of that, Marie and her husband were deemed enemies of France, arrested and tried. Both were found guilty and Marie was executed in 1793.
