First, America was secretly helping the Allies, Britain France, by sending them supplies. Then America decided to cut off trading with Japan. This made Japan bomb Hawaii (Pearl Harbor) and the next day John F Kennedy declared war on Japan thus bringing them into the war because Germany and Japan were allies and Germany declared war on America.
