South America is not one country. There are many different and independent countries. The biggest are Argentina and Brazil. Peru and Chile, Uruguay, Paruguay, Colombia are some of the smaller ones.
Each has its own type of government, but all of them are republics and have different kinds and varied degrees of democracy.

Another reigon is the Western mountains which has the highest mountain in South America. The final reigon is the central plains. Four land areas make up of the central plains. As you can see, there are three main land reigons of South America.
