The Sarcoplasmic Retiulum releases calcium ions that will cause troponin/tropomyosin complex to move. This exposes the binding sites on actin and allows the cross-bridges of myosin to bind to the actin binding sites.
The major function of the sarcoplasmic reticulum in muscle contraction is to regulate intracellular calcium concentration. It is a system of membrane-bound tubules that surrounds the muscle fibrils. it is a specialized form of smooth endoplasmic reticulum. The calcium ions initiates and promotes the attractive forces between the contracting filaments called actin and myosin to slide/ interdigitate between one another.
Sarcoplasmic reticulum is the endoplasmic reticulum of the muscle cell
it contains calcium ions in it and the calcium ions are responsible for the contraction of the muscle
At the time when the nerve signal reaches the neuromuscular junction i.e. the site at which neuron and the muscle membranes meet, the action potential travel to the cell through transverse tubules that are located near Sarcoplasmic reticulum
action potential leads to the opening of the calcium channels and the calcium comes in the sarcoplasm i.e. Cytoplasm of muscle cells it helps in contraction of the action and myosin filament in the muscle cell and then rapidly come back into the Sarcoplasmic reticulum to relax the muscle
When stimulated it releases calcium into the cell
intracellular levels of Ca2+
-intracellular levels of Ca2+
The Ca2+ ion concentration of the sarcoplasmic reticulum will be greater in a resting muscle

The sarcoplasmic reticulum (SR). It releases Ca2+ During contraction, and stores it during relaxation.

The sarcoplasmic reticulum is known for its storage of calcium ions in muscle cells.
In the sarcoplasmic reticulum (smooth er).
The sarcoplasmic reticulum is a special type of smooth endoplasmic reticulum. It releases calcium ions during muscle contraction and absorbs them during relaxation.
