3600 meters - max range
550 meters - point target
800 meters - area target
What is the maximum effective range of the M16A2 and M9?
550 metres at a point target, 800 metres at an area target.
That depends on which range you mean. Since they both use the same ammo the maximum range is the same 3600 meters. However the effictive ranges are different due to the barrel length difference: The M16A2 max range for a point target is 550m, the M4 is 500m. The M16A2 max range for a area target is 800m, the M4 is 600m.
550 Meters at a point target, 800 meters at an area target. By the way, M16A3 is not a military nomenclature - it was coined by Colt when they made an M16A2 with an M16A1 trigger group for export customers.
@3100 meters more like 500 meters for single target effectiveness though.
Depends to some degree on the gun that fires it, and the powder/ bullet loaded into that cartridge. In the case of the M16A2, it can reach a maximum range of about 3,600 meters. Please note that is NOT the EFFECTIVE range- it is simply the furthest distance it will travel at ordinary temperature, humidity, and air pressure- on a relatively level surface,
Maximum effective range at a point target: 550 metres Maximum effective range at an area target: 800 metres Maximum range: 3600 metres

Depends on the rifle firing the cartridge. The maximum effective range is around 500 yards. The maximum range (with no accuracy) is about 2.5 miles
