No you have to convert first but it does output the finished movie in h264 for youtube

That's not a FILE type, that's a FILTER type. Totally different. Check out the divx codec package. It's free. I believe it supports H264 in addition to dozens of others. If not, there are plenty of free installable filters out there.
Normally it would come from your DVR and go out to 2 TV's. I have not seen a DVR with HDMI in.
