In the Star Trek TV series, the actors wearing the red uniform shirt seemed to always be the ones who were killed by the aliens, monsters, animals, radiation or whatever. So now it means someone who will be sacrificed or whose days/hours are numbered.

STAR TREK. They make more progress in technology and society. Star wars fights over who controls the galaxy and only care about power and money. they are blood thirsty scumbags. Star trek's Q entity can flip a ship upside down and blow them up whenever they like. The stupid force can;t do that! Star Trek. I'm assuming TOS Star Trek for this one, but it has been established that the Federation alone could stomp the Galactic Empire circa The Empire Strikes Back. The Federation has FTL travel, transporters, and synthesizers. In short, even assuming parity of military tech, the Federation has easier supply lines, immunity to the Immobilizer 418's Gravity Well, the ability to send marines to board vessels, probably higher computer processing power for hacking, (It's been established that, post-Katana Fleet fiasco, a lot of the ships in the Star Wars universe were decentralized into individual units with lesser processing power), sensors and tricorders that would rival the Force to detect entities, and phasers for their ground troops have a little-used but still there DISRUPT setting. This deserves special mention as you can shoot what amounts to a PLASMA BOMB at anything. And, finally-- (Warp Storm, somehow) The Imperium of Man somehow gets there. With a strength of twenty Imperial Guard Regiments, 10 of them vehicular, and two Space Marine chapters, they bring the Galaxy to Compliance. 40k beats all. A red main sequence star would be a red dwarf or a branch red giant. To be on the main sequence, you have to have hydrogen nuclear fusion.

No, but it was assumed that it would be watched on predominantly black and white sets. Thus while they were going to Spock's skin color red, they changed it to light green, as tests showed that red would just look black on such sets.
