At dynamic equilibrium, reactants are converted to products and products are converted to reactants at an equal and constant rate. An example of a reaction in dynamic equilibrium is the dissociation of acetic acid, e.g., CH3COOH ↔ H+ + CH3COO-

for example 3 moles of A would turn to 3 moles of B AND 3 moles of B would turn to 3 moles of A so it's the same as before the reaction took place.

What is the Medical term meaning equilibrium of a system?

Homeostasis means equilibrium of a system.

Where does equilibrium come from?

Equilibrium is a state of balance. In physics and chemistry, it occurs as a dynamic state where opposing forces or reactions result in a state whose average is at least roughly the same.In the human body, the state of equilibrium (balance) is provided by the inner ear and the visual center of the cerebellum. The word equilibrium is from the Latin equi(aequi) meaning equal, and libra, meaning balance.

When materials pass into and out a cell at equal rates there is no net change in concentration inside the cell the cell is in a state of?

The cell is in a state of equilibrium. Meaning it is in an isotonic solution and there is no net osmotic pressure on the membrane.

Can an object be moveing and still be in equilibrium?

Yes. If the sum of the forces is zero, then the object will not accelerate - meaning it will maintain its speed.

What are the real life applications of Equilibrium constants?

Equilibrium constants are essential to answering many thermodynamic questions and to figuring out how a chemical is gonna behave in a solution. On a routine basis -- meaning someone working in a lab -- you need equilibrium constants to make buffers (henderson-hasselbalch).

What is the relationship between chemical equilibrium and the rates of forward and reversed reaction?

The relationship between chemical equilibrium and the rates of forward and reversed reaction is they will both be equal. Meaning both of them will be just about the same.

Can gases expand?

No, they diffuse until an equilibrium is established meaning there is an equal spread of the gasses molecules. - Tony

What is a characteristic of a chemical equilibrium?

Chemical equilibria are dynamic, meaning the forward rate and reverse rate are equal.

What is equilibrium in Latin?

From late Latin, aequilibrium, from the words aequus meaning equal and libra a balance scale

What is the difference between phase equilibrium and metastability?

For the condition of phase equilibrium the free energy is a minimum, the system is completely stable meaning that over time the phase characteristics are constant. For metastability, the system is not at equilibrium, and there are very slight (and often imperceptible) changes of the phase characteristics with time.

What does Equilibrium mean in medical terms?

Essentially balance. One is reminded of the phrase used on blimps and Tankers, where huge quantities of fluids had to be carefully weighed-off as ( Weighed off and In Equilibrium ! prior to the take-off of the Blimp.

How does supply shock affect equilibrium price and quantity?

Because supply shock is a sudden change of a good. Meaning if it is a negative shock, the equilibrium price and quantity of course will go down. And if it is a positive shock, vice versa of negative.
