Both words are primarily the same thing, interchangeable and yet slight differences in the meanings still.

They're generally when a professional or someone with experience helps (guides/counsels) someone else who needs or wants their help. Counseling tends to deal with asking a question or revealing feelings and this needs someone else to be their conscience, to help sort out their thoughts. Guidance is more helping the person along not necessarily when the advise is wanted or needed, but when it the person giving the advice seems to think it's right time to.
