PIB insulation tape, short from Polyisobutyleneis widely used for all sorts of insulation due to its self vulcanization properties.
There are many products based on this compound but insulation tape is usually made as two layer role of tape whit Polyisobutylene tape applied to layer of fiber tape that is meant to prevent unwanted self vulcanization by separating PIB layers from each other while they arerolled in as tape.
The tape is used by cutting small peace from the role and removing the fiber part of the tape from PIB part, then PIB part is applied on any surface bystretching the peace to almost twice its length and making sure that its applied so it has good contact whit it self . After it stays in contact whit it self for some time it self vulcanize it self making it in to one peace of rubber that if applied correctly makes it in to hydro/air/electric insulation coating that can not be unwrapped again, you can remove it by cutting it just like any other rubber.
Due to its cold self vulcanization properties and ability to allow user to create rubber coating on any surface in all sort of weather conditions it is widely used by electric/electronic outdoor workers to isolate contacts on power/cable/phone/optic/etc lines.
For electronic outdoor work, it is reliable, long lasting, easy to use, all surface insulation whit no competition due to its properties and ease of use.
An insulation material is one which separates one region from another. Common uses would be electrical insulation, thermal insulation, and acoustic insulation.
Hot insulation can be found in materials that areheat conductors such as aluminum foil where as cold insulationcannot.
Insulation is the exact opposite. Conduction is a method of energy transfer, insulation is the reduction or prevention of energy transfers

Insulation tape is used to protect exposed electrical conductors or wires. Another term for it would be electrical tape. It is wrapped around wires and other electrical conductors to protect them.
in my work PIB stands for Process (or Plant) Interface Building.

Heat tape and insulation are your best bests. Check out your local Home Depot type store in the plumbing department for the heat tape and pipe insulation.

Wrap them in insulation and keep the water flowing through them at all times. If electricity is available, they can be wrapped in electrical pipe heating tape to keep them above freezing temperature. Insulation over this tape will still help (if the manufacturer of the heating tape indicates it is OK and won't cause overheating).
