Why are thunderstorms more common over land than over water?

1. Thunderstorms are most common in the afternoon over land, when daytime heating of the land by the sun causes the lower part of the troposphere to become unstable from higher temperatures and more water vapor in the air. Thunderstorms build up over the sea by picking up the water and then with the movement of the hot and cold fronts, but it isn't until they hit land that they actually turn into thunderstorms.

How does carbon leave the hydrosphere?

Over time (millions of years) the sediments that later turn into limestone rise and are exposed as dry land. The carbons are finally returned to the atmosphere by weathering and soil erosion.

After a hurricane is named how long does it take to hit land?

Storms become Hurricanes when the wind speed reaches a certain value. The Hurrican may then stall out or turn away from the US or any number of possibilities. Some actually have hit land twice. Usually a Hurrican will travel to the NorthWest direction but when they hit land, they turn and travel NorthEast. So some will hit land and turn and go back out to sea and then pick up speed and return.

When the land heats and cools more quickly than the water what is produced?

After the sun sets, land typically cools more rapidly than the ocean or sea. As the land cools, the air close to the surface cools, as well. Since cold air is denser than warm air, the cold air tends to sink and compress. The falling and compressing air creates a void at higher altitudes, and the void is then filled with high-altitude air over the oceans or sea. This, in turn, creates an updraft of air over the water, which creates a void at low altitude over the water. Finally, the air near the land's surface tries to fill the void over the water. This produces on offshore breeze or a land breeze. That is, the wind blows away from land and out to sea. The reverse occurs when the sun rises and heats the land faster than the water.

What happens to the boiling points of hydrocarbons as they get bigger?

"volatile" means it turns into gas more easily. liquids turn into gasses when the temperature increases and all the bonds break apart. the smaller the hydrocarbon chains, the fewer bonds that need to break so the faster it will turn to gas.

Why wont my 1998 land rover discovery turn over?

Several things can cause your land rover not to turn over. I would start with checking the battery. Is it fully charged? Do you hear a click when you try to start it. If so, could be a weak battery or a faulty starter solenoid. Those two are the most probable.
