In Cyprus there is not a minimum wage for all professions. Instead, only 8 occupational groups are protected by the Minimum Wage Law.

As of 1 April 2010, the monthly minimum wage in Cyprus was decreed as €835 for 6 occupations: sales staff, clerks, auxiliary healthcare staff and auxiliary staff in nursery schools, in crèches and in schools.

Of those employees, the ones who have worked for the same employer for six consecutive months have an increased minimum monthly wage, that is €887.

The minimum wage for caretakers is €791 (new entrants) and after six months this is increased to €840.

For the category of security guard, the minimum hourly wage was set at €4.70 for new entrants to the job and at €5.00 for people who have worked for the same employer for six months.

The minimum wage rates are set annually around April.
