holly, commander root, artemis, butler, the russian mayfia, artemis the senior, angeline fowl, and many more people. it is a very good book and i would really advise reading it.
Chapter 5 in Artemis Fowl is 'Missing in Action'. It is about the first interactions between Arrtemis Fowl and the LEP after Holly Short is discovered to have been kidnapped. Holly Wakes up in her cell and begins her escape attempt, and Commander Root is tricked by Artermis into going to the wrong place and almost dies when he tries to rescue her.
In chapter six of the first Artemis Fowl book a group of fairies try to break into the Fowl manor, Butler obviously stops them very quickly and Artemis makes a deal with commander Root. He would give Captain Short (Holly) back in return for one tonne of gold.
Well, he doesn' come back, but Artemis and Holly go back in time and meet him one last time, yes.
well if you are talking about the Artemis fowl books then the main characters are Artemis fowl, butler, holly short, commander root, foaly, (and in other books) n1 (means number one; a demon), opal koiboi, and mulch diggums
So that Captain Holly Short Or commander Root couldn't mesmerize him.(the mirror's reflective capability reflected the mesmer)

Artemis Fowl does research and finds a sprite, from whom he borrows the Book. He translates it from Gnommish and uses it to locate likely locations at which a fairy will go to replenish their magic. He and Butler stake out these locations. Captain Holly Short is sent out to do recon on an unshielded troll. During the mission, she runs out of magic and a child sees her. Commander Root sends her to replenish her magic. She happens to be at the same magical hotspot that Artemis and Butler are staking out at that time. She attempts to use the mesmer on them, as she only has enough magic for that, but to her horror discovers that it doesn't work (as they are wearing sunglasses) and that these humans know sacred secrets of the fairy race. Butler shoots her with a tranquillizer and they kidnap her. Commander Root and Foaly discover Holly has been kidnapped and Root goes to the surface to track her by her locator. Meanwhile, Artemis takes apart the fairy technology Holly had on her and discovers her locator. He sets a trap for Root on a Japanese whaler, involving Holly's locator, a message and a bomb, while Butler creates a distraction involving six men getting beat up by him. Holly wakes up in Fowl Manor and learns a few things about her captors and how much they know about Fairy Law, from Juliet. Root springs the trap and discovers just who it is that has kidnapped his officer and is the fairies' enemy, Artemis Fowl.
commander Julius root
well that depends wich Artemis fowl book you are talking about in the first book his plan is to stop time around fowl manor ,give fowl the gold , and use a bio-bomb (also known as a blue blast) to destroy Artemis fowl and his servants than go back and collect the gold.In the second book he joins forses with Artemis fowl to catch a battery feind
I have 4 favourite characters in that book. First Holly Short, I think she's a wonderful character. Artemis is obviously one of my favourites, too. And I must say that I really love Mulch and Foaly. I prefer Holly Short because she is really determined like Artemis Fowl. Holly Short is quick witted when she is in danger.
