Everything sounds like the model 1903, manufactured from 1903 to 1920. Your serial number is much higher than the total number of 1903's produced, so they must have been using one set of serial numbers for several models. I recently ID'd one marked "patent applied for", so yours must have been made after 12/25/06 and the other before. Do you really think the US Patent Office was working on Christmas Day?

the rifle in question is known as the Model 15. I have it's brother, a 1913 Meriden w/ octagonal barrel. Pump action w/English foresight, Lyman front sight. #7390. Both of these weapons have mutual heritage.
