What is the morally acceptable way for a Buddhist person to get rid of a pest infestation?

The best way would be to move the pests,and the item they are infesting, out of the house. So if you had lets say carpenter ants in the wood, if a contractor to replace the wood to remove the ants that would be best. But as the 3rd Dalai Lama said in Essence of Refined Gold "if you had a bed infested with bed bugs, I doubt many people would heed the advice not to kill them, and I myself, would not like to sleep in a bed infested with bugs".

Ultimately, gift giving is a kind of action that transcends boudaries and any person who does not feel appreciation for a gift is already breaking Buddhist values. If the gift is from the heart, i don't see why it would not be a good gift.
