The best way would be to move the pests,and the item they are infesting, out of the house. So if you had lets say carpenter ants in the wood, if a contractor to replace the wood to remove the ants that would be best. But as the 3rd Dalai Lama said in Essence of Refined Gold "if you had a bed infested with bed bugs, I doubt many people would heed the advice not to kill them, and I myself, would not like to sleep in a bed infested with bugs".

Ultimately, gift giving is a kind of action that transcends boudaries and any person who does not feel appreciation for a gift is already breaking Buddhist values.
