The most important thing in my job, and any job for that matter, is caring. No matter what you do, caring about the person or persons you are doing the job for (and who you are doing the job with if it is in a company with multiple employees) is crucial.
If you really care about those people, then you will do the best work for them that you possibly can. This leads to happy bosses, co-workers, customers, clients etc. Then that can lead to job satisfaction for yourself (enjoying your work and being proud of what you've accomplished is even better than the money you make from doing it). It can also possibly lead to career advancement and or promotion.
No matter what you know or how many degrees you have (or don't have) or how much prior experience you have, or who you know etc., none of it will have a bigger impact on your job than caring will.
