Most do Even windows movie maker can have overlays
The answer is of course you can! Remember, Movie maker is a program to design movies. Once the movie is a finished product it could be played on any computer that has a media program. Most windows PCs have windows media player and Macs have quicktime. As long as you published the movie as a file it can work on any pc. If your going to play it on Mac or outside operating system keep in mind the universal format for movies is AVI, you can change that in movie maker when you finish the movie. If you stay with windows your fine and you can just finish the movie as is! Hopes this help!

The file's audio could be corrupt... But it is most likely that it the video is incompatible with Windows Movie Maker. Sometimes video is exported (mixed-down) with audio properties requiring codec applications different from those incorporated by the program.I would try converting the video to a format Windows Movie Maker uses:.asf, .avi, dvr-ms, .m1v, .mp2, .mp2v, .mpe, .mpeg, .mpg, .mpv2, .wm, .wmvThis will export the current video in Windows Movie Maker format. You should then be able to view it in Windows Media Player and import it into Windows Movie Maker.
