The most western point of the US is Cape Wrangell, Alaska. IT is 3,625 miles west of the center. The most eastern point of the US is West Quoddy Head, Me. It is 2,507 miles from the center of the United States.
Oh-- this kind of question is always contraversial-- Some are of the opinion (as am I) that the westernmost point of the US is the west coast of Amatignak Island in the Aleutians. This is NOT the farthest point out in the Aleutians, but the farthest point before crossing 180 degrees longitude. Once you cross this longitude, you are in the eastern hemisphere. The question does say: "What is the westernmost point"... not "How far can you travel in a westerly direction".The easternmost point of the US would then be Semisopochnoi Island, across the Amchitka Pass from Amatignak, and to the north. It is the farthest east you can go (following a long break after leaving Maine) before entering the western hemisphere.

Alaska. We are the Northern-most, Eastern-most, and Western-most State in the Union. Edit by other member: no, it is not Alaska. First of all, Alaska is not in the continental US and second of all it is also not the eastern most state in the union. The actual westernmost point is debatable: Cape Mendocino in California or western Washington.
From the most eastern point of Australia, Cape Byron in New South Wales, to the most western point of Australia, Steep Point in Western Australia, is a distance of almost 4,000km or 2,485 miles.
