An Integrated Circuit (IC)
Integrated Circuit
Monolithic integrated circuit technology is a system of electronics that are interconnected through a single piece. This single piece is a semiconductor crystal.
entire circuit is built into a single piece of semiconductor (chip); physical properties of semiconductor to large degree determine performance of the circuit; the most common integrated circuits such as microprocessors, memories, etc., are all monolithic.
An integrated circuit can be either monolithic (all on one piece of semiconductor) or hybrid (several separate components attached to a tiny ceramic circuit board). A microchip is another name for a monolithic integrated circuit.
The piece of string will act as an insulator. Insulators will not carry circuit current when a voltage source is applied across it. Therefore nothing will happen if a piece of string is used to complete an electrical circuit.
A transistor is made of a solid piece of a semiconductor material, with at least three terminals for connection to an external circuit. A simple illustration below. IIIIIIII IIIIIIII ..I I I ..I I I ..I I I
a power supply (eg: battery) and a load (eg: resistor) even a piece wire shorting two terminals of the power supply is a closed circuit
A circuit is just as long as a piece of string.
Depends which one. It can be leather, sponge, rubber or you can even make one for paper by scrunching a piece of paper.
A transistor is a solid device consisting of two charged semiconductors sandwiching a very thin piece of an oppositely-charged semiconductor. The thin piece might even be a layer of oxidation on the semiconductor surface. These earlier and more sensitive (and delicate) transistors were made of the semiconductor, Germanium. The later, more sturdy transistors were and are made with silicon.

A circuit breaker is designed so that it will trip when the electric current is too high. That is the purpose of a circuit breaker. If there is a metal piece on the circuit breaker that prevents it from tripping, it is useless. Perhaps someone has altered it.
