Hardness is the measure of how easily a mineral can be scratched.
Illite is a clay mineral that typically has a fine-grained texture. It has a pale color, usually ranging from white to light gray, but can also be yellow or greenish. Illite has a layered structure with a sheet-like appearance, composed of individual crystalline plates. It exhibits a relatively low plasticity, meaning it does not easily mold or deform. Illite is known to have good water-holding capacity, making it useful for retaining moisture in soil.
Obsidian because it's the only mineral that is the blackest of well......black! Anyway it's black I mean Obsidian (\_/) (o.o) (___)o
The shadow is not a solid 'black' colour. It can be the same colour as the object and the shadow allows you to see through it more than an opaque objects shadow. An opaque object would block the light but a translucent object would give a shadow that you could quite easily see through
Rock salt is a mineral that is easily soluble in room temperature water.
They are called 'spar'.
A schistose foliation would be found in a metamorphic rock with a large amount of micaceous minerals, creating a flaky texturing with easily cleavable layers. Gneiss is more coarse in texture, not as easily cleavable along planes, and contains less micaceous minerals.
Both crystalline and brittle mean to break easily - fine china, thin glass, etc.

Talc is the softest mineral and can be scratched by any other mineral.

Crystalline precipitates have less surface area than the colloidal precipitates, therefore they are more pure. Additionally, crystalline precipitates, because they are larger, are more easily separated from the surrounding solution.

The term for this is "hardness".
