The powder indicates the true color of the mineral and is an aid in mineral identification. That can also be called a streak.
Color is the observable color of a mineral specimen in natural light. Streak is the color of a mineral when powdered. The color of a specific mineral specimen may be different than its streak color. Because many impurities can alter the color of a mineral, but not the streak, streak is a more accurate predictor in mineral identification.
They have chlorophyll in them. So their color is green
Color is what you observe when you look at a mineral. Streak is the color of the mineral when in a fine powder form. This can be observed by drawing a sample of the mineral over an unglazed porcelain tile and noting the color of the line left on the tile.
Obsidian. It commonly is dark because of the Fe contamination.

it is not a good idea to identify a rock or mineral by it's color because the color of the rock can change and when looking at facts on that rock/mineral it may not say the color that you have. that is why there are other ways as well as color. but don't get me wrong because some things can be identified by the color so it really depends.

Streak is the color of a crushed mineral's powder. The color of a mineral's powder may differ from the actual color of the mineral. This property can be useful for mineral identification.Almost every mineral has an inherent streak color, no matter what color the actual mineral is.
