There is a building called "Baha'i House" in New Delhi, India which is the National Baha'i Center, essentially an office building, for the national Baha'i community of India.

The term is or was also used for a house near Stuttgart, Germany which was used as the retreat center for the German Baha'i community.

The term may possibly be given to other such buildings in various places around the world. The term is too general to be of much use though.

A Baha'i House of Worship, on the other hand, is a specific structure for prayer built by Baha'is and open to everyone in society. Baha'i intend to build one in every community, but that will take centuries. At present there is one for every continent with the one for South America presently (2011) under construction near Santiago, Chile. When it is completed the goal is to build one in every nation. Sites for over 100 have been purchased so far.

The greater temples - of which there will soon be one in every continent (once the temple in Santiago is finished) - are known in English as "Baháí Houses of Worship". They are also known by the Arabic name of Mashriqu'l-Adhkár.
