An EMP grenade/bomb will disrupt any electrical current within a specific radius. The atomic bomb, for example, is one bomb that releases and EMP wave, which stands for Electromagnetic Pulse. Any nuclear bomb that is exploded above the earth's atmosphere will generate some kind of EMP that is radiated to the earth. One large Nuclear bomb can impact more than half of the USA. It doesn't actually disrupt all electricity. It applies a electromagnetic wave that can disrupt low voltage used by computers and anything that uses a computer such as a car. If the wiring is shielded very much like you do for lightning protection, then it will have no effect. The Coax cables as used on TV cables would protect that wire from voltage building up on that wire. However, if the TV or VCR that it is connect to is not completely shielded, then the computer chip board can be damaged or erased.
