The Hebrew names for the books of The Bible are not translations of the English names. In Hebrew, books are usually named after their first significant word or words. The first word in the Book of Leviticus is Vayikra (ויקרא) which means "And [he] called".
So, the Hebrew name for the Book of Leviticus is Vayikra.
Most of Judaism's laws derive from the Torah or Pentateuch, but the delineation of the laws comes up much more clearly in the Talmud.

The details not explained in the Torah are spelled out in the Talmud.

The Book of Leviticus was originally written in Hebrew.
There is no Hebrew word that means Leviticus. Hebrew names for books of the bible are quite different and unrelated to the English words. The Book of Leviticus in Hebrew is called vayikra (ויקרא), which comes from the first word of the book of Leviticus.
The book of Numbers. The more appropriate Hebrew title is "in the wilderness", because it deals with the Israelites' preparations for leaving Sinai, journey from Sinai to Moab, and events in Moab.
No book in the Hebrew bible has a title that means "minister" in Hebrew.
It depends on how you define "first" and how you define "named after a man".The book of Job, named after the (male) central character, was probably one of the earliest books of the Bible to be written. In the order in which they appear in the modern Bible, the answer would be "Leviticus" (named ... sort of ... after Levi) or Joshua (named, obviously, after Joshua).Since they were originally written in Hebrew, the first book to feature a man's name in the title is Joshua (Hebrew Sefer Y'hoshua). The Hebrew name for Leviticus translates to "and he called", where "he" refers to JHVH; it didn't become "Leviticus" until translated into Greek.
The word "Leviticus" comes from the Latin translation of the Hebrew term "wayyiqra," meaning "and He called." Leviticus is the third book of the Bible and is named after the Levites, the priestly tribe of Israel who are central to the book's content.
- קֹהֶלֶתQoheleth: a transliteration of the Hebrew title which in English is the book of Ecclesiastes.
Leviticus is a book of laws.
Some people agree with the book Leviticus. I like the book of Leviticus because it is real and it happened.
The Hebrew title of the Book of Psalms is Tehillim (תהילים). This word literally means "praises" but in Hebrew a "praise" is a synonym for a "religious song."Note that each individual psalm in Hebrew is called a shir (שיר) which means "song" or "poem".
The sacred book of Judaism is called the Torah. It is composed of the first five books of the Hebrew Bible: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy.
I was taught in Sunday school some 40+ years ago that Leviticus meant "book of Levites". Books of Levities meant the laws of Levites of laws of preists(and preists helpers I would assume). Am not sure if this is correct but, like I stated it was what I was taught
