There are many good scientific books that tell how the world was created, for various age groups from young children up to university students.

From a religious point of view, there are also many, from the Rig Veda (Hindu), the Memphite stela (early Egyptian), to the Book of Genesis in The Bible.

The 'Creation' account in Genesis is actually a re-creation of the already existing Earth, now in a state of 'tohu and bohu' in the Hebrew or formless and empty in the English. This can be confirmed by other Scripture like Isaiah 45:18 which clearly states God 'did not create it in vain (tohu).' When God originally created the heavens and the earth, they were a thing of beauty as we read in Job 38:4-7 that the angels shouted for joy at the sight - the 1st creation.

Scripture points to a rebellion by Satan, when the earth became a wasteland and that is where we pick up the re-creation (note:Psalm 104:30, "You send forth Your Spirit, they are created; and You renew the face of the earth.") of the Earth in Genesis. The account of Satan being cast down can be read in Isaiah 14:12-15; Ezekiel 28:14-17; Luke 10:18.

As your question asks about the book containing the creation accounts, it would appear you heard of or believe there is more than one so allow me to explain two schools of thought on this matter. One idea became predominant in the 19th Century from a German Philosopher named Hegel. It is called the 'Documentary Hypothesis.' Its central idea was that as writing did not occur in the beginning but about 1000 years afterwards and therefore those credited with the writing of the 1st Book of Genesis had to be others which they label JDEP based upon the Sacred Names of God used.

However, this 2nd school of thought had scholars taking a closer look into the original Hebrew, and many have now adopted a theory based upon the 'colonphon' phrases naming the writer at the end of specific verses. These were usually preceded by 'toledoth' (Hebrew for family) and match up very well with each of the writers colonphon at the end of the verses. So Genesis 1:1 to 2:4a has God Himself as the writer while Genesis 2:4b to 5:1 it is Adam (and his viewpoint). Continuing, Genesis 5:1b to 6:9a is Noah's account, etc for 11 'generations' of writings. This is known as the 'Tablet Theory.' Yet it is all one creation/renewal writen by God and thereafter, various men. All were compiled by Moses as Jesus noted.

It has been said that if you lived a 1,000 years and read Genesis every day, you would discover new meaning to the verses contained within the book. It appears correct.

The Book of Genesis is the first book in the Bible and contains the two complete biblical creation accounts (Genesis 1:1-2:4a and 2:4b-25). The Book of Job contains fragments of a third, now lost, creation account, with further fragments of this account in the Psalms.

Genesis, which means 'origin' in Hebrew is the first book of the Bible - the book of beginnings. Few realize that only Genesis 1:1 alludes to the origins of the physical creation (see John 1:1-3 for more) with the remainder discussing the 'renewal' of the face of the Earth. Though some will say there are two distinct 'creation' accounts in Genesis 1 & 2, biblical scholars agree that the Genesis 1 account is an outline of the 'renewal' of the Earth found under water and in darkness (see Psalm 104:30) and the 7 sequential days of creating - ending with man on the 6th day - and God blessing and resting on the 7th day - eternal Sabbath. Genesis 2 then gives the more detailed or complementary and supplementary account of the 6th day creation of man and subsequent fulfillment of this pinnacle of God with the forming of the woman.

The Bible is like a puzzle with Scriptures related to a topic in various books throughout. If a timeline of this creation event was desired to be read, there is a 'chronological' Bible with theses Scriptures in time order for the Creation event: John 1:1-2; Psalm 90:2; Genesis 1:1; Isaiah 14:12-17; Ezekiel 28:13-18; and only then Genesis 1:2...
