There is no standard. Most synagogues that I know have pews, like churches. One synagogue I know has individual chairs.
Some synagogues have pews, not unlike the pews in churches. Some have regular chairs. I have never encountered a special name for the seats in a synagogue that is in any way different from the name for similar seats in a home, office, theater or church.
Usually people sit on chairs. Some Synagogues may have benches to sit on.
The entire synagogue is a worship area, but Jewish people generally sit in the chairs.
They sit with their fathers and grandfathers.
On chairs. Interesting, but women do the same. Wow, what a thought.
