New Zealand is not in a continent: it is an island country.

Australia is a nation and a continent, but the continent of Australia does not incorporate New Zealand. New Zealand is part of the mostly submerged continent Zealandia, which is not commonly recognised as one of the continents of the world, precisely because it is submerged. The continent of Australia is a recognised continent.

The region including Australia and New Zealand is sometimes referred to as "Oceania", but Oceania is geographically and politically not a continent.

New Zealand is an island nation that is not part of any continent. The main islands include the north island, the south island, and Stewart Island.

The nearest continent is Australia, but this is more than 2000km away and separated from New Zealand by the Tasman Sea.

New Zealand is an island nation lying to the east of Australia. The exposed land is too small to qualify as a continent, but it sits on top of a large submerged continental landmass about the size and shape of India, and which is known to the Earth science peoples as Zealandia.

It could also be grouped as part of Australasia, or of Oceania.

There is no continent of Australia and New Zealand.

Australia is its own continent. New Zealand and the islands of the Pacific are not considered part of a continent, but New Zealand tends to be grouped (as is New Guinea) with Australia in the larger conglomeration of Oceania, which, by definition, is not a geographical continent.

Australia and Oceania are two completely different things.

New Zealand is the above-water part of a continental mass called Zealandia, about the size of India, and most of which has never been above the water's surface.

No. Australia is the continent of Australia, and no other country. New Zealand is not part of the Australian continent.
