Pretty weird , there was a somewhat similar PLAY dealing with an ill-fated rendezvous between a GI ( or Tommy as the British call their troops) and a society woman, clearly upper class. Play went smooth , guy arranges for rendezvous on a Bridge- rendezvous complete along comes incoming bomb shell! (this could scare the audience as play was made during war) Blam! end of show. the PLAY was given the harmless sounding title Waterloo Bridge. I don"t know of a movie quite like that in that time frame.
There was a play with a somewhat similar theme- see previous question- and the Bombshell ends all- with a bang, called Waterloo Bridge. it was an English Production and the title place was rendezvous point for a Tommy ( Like our GI) and his Lady Friend, did not have any connection with Napoleonic battle!~ there is also a Waterloo station in England on the RR or subway system. I am not aware of a (Midway) stop or (Bastogne) stop on the IRT, for example!
