Browalia has a five-lobed flower whose corolla ranges in color from purple to blue, with two white and yellow spots in the center. It was named in honor of Swedish botanist Johan Browall, aka John Browall and Johan Browallius [August 30, 1707-July 25, 1755]. It favors moist uplands and disturbed, forested habitats. It was introduced into Santa Cruz islands, which is part of the Galapagos, from tropical South America.
