The Phoenix Mars lander is on the ground now! Use the link to the JPL/NASA posting on this mission. It is updated frequently.
Mariner 9 was launched successfully on May 30, 1971. This made it the first artificial satellite of Mars when it arrived and went into orbit.

Mariner 3 and 4were the first i believe but failed. Mariner 9 was launched successfully on May 30, 1971, and became the first artificial satellite of Mars when it arrived and went into orbit.
NASA have sent many satellites and probes and landers to Mars and beyond. You need to be a bit more specific with your question. But I am sure a Google search (which I am not going to do for you) will turn up a complete list. The name of the satellite was Behemoth (MRO) Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter. It was launched in 2005 to begin its 6 month journey to mars.a sattelite is also known as what people use as a tv reception they get that reception from space which carries a huge sattelite
First ever satellite to land on the planet Mars was a Russian probe called Mars 2. Albeit it did not land but crashed. The first successful probe to land on Mars was Mars 3 sent by the Russians, however the probe was operational for 15 minutes after landing on Mars. The first American probe to land on Mars was the Viking 1 on the 20th of July 1976.

No space has ever gone to mars. It would around 9 months to get there. A space probe has been sent to Mars and it was called Pathfinder.
