According to the Mount Vernon Library George Washington led his troops into winter quarters around Middlebrook, New Jersey in December of 1778. General Israel Putnam and his Continental Army forces entered into Winter Quarters in Redding, Connecticut. Other forces had their own locations but I assume the question is related to General Washington's winter quarters.

Valley Forge. The location, just North of Philadelphia, was chosen by Washington as a winter quarter, after the defeat at the Battle of Germantown, fought on October 1777
