The Petpet Lab Ray is aditional to the Secret Laboratory Ray. It zaps your petpet into different petpets, changes it's name and level. It can also make your petpet disappear completely. You click on that pet and scroll down until you see the petpet. After that click on the petpet and scrool down again. At the bottom of the page it should say something like 'do you want to stop playing with (name)' and click yes. This should return the petpet to your inventory.

You click on your neopet's picture at the left side of your screen, to get to your 'quick ref' page. Then you click on the image of the petpet and click 'stop playing with...' Voila! That should work :D
