Generally, it honors Washington and Lincoln's birthdays. Nationally, "Presidents' Day" is an unofficial holiday commonly honoring Presidents Washington and Lincoln. There actually is no official federal holiday by this name. At the state level, some states do have an official holiday by this name, but depending on the state it may honor Washington and Lincoln, or it may honor all past presidents.
US Presidents live in a building called The White House, at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, in Washington, DC. The portion of the White House that the President and his family actually live in is referred to as the "Presidential Residence" and is on the second floor of the White House. The Lincoln Bedroom, the Treaty Bedroom, and the Queen's Room are also located on the second floor, but are not considered to be part of the Presidential Residence.
Franklin Roosevelt was the first to call his annual address by that name. Washington made an annual speech to Congress- other presidents sent a message in writing which was read by the House Clerk.
