Mars's two moons, Phobos and Deimos, we're both discovered in August 1877 by Asaph Hall.
Asaph Hall III (Oct. 15, 1828-Nov. 22, 1907) was an American astronomer best known for his discovery of Phobos and Deimos, the two captured moons of Mars. Aside from this, Hall also discovered the orbits of other planet's satellites and of double stars, the rotational period of Saturn, and the mass of Mars.
Mars, Jupiter, Neptune and Uranus all have moons. Venus and Mercury do not have moons.
Phobos and Deimos are the only two ( but tiny) moons of mars, which are thought to be captured asteroids. Both moons are probabaly about 2 million years old. Phobos ("FOH bus") is the larger and innermost of Mars' two moons. Phobos is closer to its primary than any other moon in the solar system, less than 6000 km above the surface of Mars. It is also one of the smallest moons in the solar system. Deimos is the small and outter most of Mar's is two moons. It appears to have a little surface, becaues it is covered with a thick layer of dust. While, phobos probably doesn't have as much dust and debris, because it is closer to the moon.
Mercury and Venus are the two planets that have neither rings nor moons. Earth and Mars each have moons, and the gas giants all have rings and moons.
