Bloodhound isn't necessarily a virus. If Norton's "Bloodhound" technology finds a suspicious piece of code in a file it names it something like "Bloodhound.exploit.13" or similar. Remember Norton have a vested interest in frightening people. It can't remove it because it probably isn't a virus. Download free Antivirus software from Grisoft.com or www.free-av.com or similar and see if the virus still appears. You can delete the file yourself hold down shift and press delete in Windows explorer when the file is highlighted or leave it in quarantine.blood houndBloodhound is not the name of a virus, but a message displayed by Symantec's Norton Anti-Virus when it thinks it may have found a new virus. 9/10 times it is nothing.... Sometimes it is picking up a vulnerability that a windows update covers..
when a file is quarantined it just disables it and stores it in a place where you can see it and decide what to do. my suggestion is to look up the file name and see if its a virus, if so, then permenatly delete it. the scaners dont usually get the wrong kinda files. still... check first.
To delete a file, type: rm filename To delete a file, but prompt for confirmation first use: rm -i filename In both cases, replace filename with the name of the file you're wanting to remove.
Hello, there is a free antivirus program you can download called add. It located and removed the Trojan without affecting the infected program. If the virus is in your system volume information folder, you will need to allow your virus scan to access it. Check out theeldergeek.com, under system volume information folder, for info on access, then run your virus scan and allow it to isolate the Trojan horse. Go to Start /Control Panel /Folder Options (click the View tab)and uncheck both the *Hide file extension for known file types & *Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)-boxes, then OK yourself out. Then go to Start /Search /For Files or Folders option type up the NAME OF THE FILE & EXT (not downloader.wintrim.Q), but the actual name of the file, which would have shown up on your anti-virus software. Highlight the file and press Delete...make sure to empty your Recycle Bin.

The dll file could actually be the cause of you getting the downloader virus. First focus on deleting the dll file and then you can run a virus program to eliminate any other viruses on your computer. First find out what processes that dll file has attached itself to. Go to run and enter procexp. When that pops up go to find dll or handle and enter your dll file name. It will specify which processes it has attached itself. If it's not a vital process then you can kill the process and subsequently delete that dll file. If it's attached to the winlogon.exe or explorer processes then here are a few more steps. Right click on each process seperately and go to properties. Under threads you will need to right click and kill each instance of the dll. You will also need to do this with any handles listed. I had to suspend the winlogon handle. Then you should be able to delete that dll. If it's protected and you can't delete it. Move the file to another folder... I moved it to a new folder in My Documents. Then reboot and you should be able to delete that file. Good luck...
