Mac filtering is most efficient with wired networks. It is not very efficient with wireless networks, because hackers can very easily eavesdrop on you.
I would recommends the Wireless Mighty Mouse by Mac.
MAC Filtering
To use protected by key wireless networks (WPA, WPA2-PSK AES), MAC filters, deny access to ports which are not used.
Apple menu, upper left corner, scroll down to "About this Mac....." then "More Info..." then look down the list for "Network", it should have the MAC address listed. Also if you made "Locations" for your different networks or Wireless/ethernet connections then the ethernet and Wireless cards MAC address's will be listed.
A Mac's airport card connects the Mac to a wireless network. If the Mac is turned off it will not be connected to the network.
Kismac is just a Wireless network discovery tool for the Mac OSX. It just searches for Wireless Networks. It is mainly for developed for network security professionals. Kismac is also considered to be one of the best MAC OSX though the wireless drivers that are provided with Kismac are not the best to be used with Apple Airport and it is also evident that the Kismac is not able to find the Airport card after it has run the Mac using the Airport drivers available in the Active mode. If you don't know how to operate with Kismac refer the link in sources. As far as the question of Legality comes in, Kismac is legal as its just a small utility used for finding wireless networks and not intruding the networks by breaching any rules.
Using a wireless encryption key i.e WPA (Or less secure WEP) and MAC Address filtering. You can also stop the broadcasting the SSID, however the wireless access point can still be picked up.
You will need to access your wireless router's configuration. There should be a section for Wireless security, then there should be a section for MAC filter. Can't give specifics as you didn't mention the brand.
OFDM-based Broadband Wireless Networks covers the latest technological advances in digital broadcasting, wireless LAN, and mobile networks to achieve high spectral efficiency, and to meet peak requirements for multimedia traffic. The book emphasizes the OFDM modem, air-interface, medium access-control (MAC), radio link protocols, and radio network planning.
You have at least two different options:1st: you can use so called "MAC filter" either black or white list. Black list does not allow certain MAC address, white list allows only certain IP addresses.2nd: you can use secured networks. To activate this option, you need to log on your router, go in wireless properties and choose security you want to use. It's recommended to use WPA2-PSK (AES), if you have something lower than that, use MAC filter along with wireless security activated.
Any wireless keyboard will work with a Mac. However the very best is the Apple wireless keyboard and Apple Magic Mouse. They are bluetooth and just work with no additional hardware or software.
