Using cellphones inside schools have numerous disadvantages. By using your cellphone in school you disrupt the learning environment for other students. You provide distraction from educational studies and you annoy people who don't want to listen your buzzing, talking, or ringing.
annoying every single other person who has to listen to you blather about something that is completely irrelevant
Disrupting others education. Most schools have bans against cell phones in classrooms - teachers and administrators have been confiscating them and returning them to the student at the end of their school day in some states/regions. There is nothing that important that just can't wait until recess, lunch or after school. Back 20 or 30 years ago we got along just fine without them ... you can, too.
Some negative effects of cell phones are as followed
- Highly addictive: teenagers are always on the phone, talking or texting, and as a result would hurt their academics.
- Expensive: cell phones, the device itself, could cost you several hundreds dollars; but it doesn't end there. The cost of the phone service (your phone plan) could cost you $30 - $100 (or more) per month!
- Very distracting: the phone goes off at any time (i.e. in the middle of class, church, presentations, etc)
- Can ruin your life: because of the fast growing technology people are able to do so much on the phone. For example, for business men and women, their phone may have the option of emailing. Because of this, they are always working on the go and have no time to relax. Even when one is on vacation, having a phone makes this very easy for work because people could contact you so easily and you could simply work on the phone.
- Bad for your health: cellphones use receive and transmit radio frequency signals which are similar to radiation given off of a microwave which studies have shown to be bad for your health. Also researchers have linked cell phone usage with male infertility, Alzheimer's, and serveral other health complications.
- Environmentally unfriendly: numerous studies have shown that electronic waste from things like cell phones are highly damaging to our environment as they have harmful toxins in them. Disposing such devices also require a difficult process.
Distraction ! Kids would rather use their phones than pay attention to what's being taught. If a child needs to be contacted in an emergency, their parents can always phone the school ! If the school needs to speak to a parent, they will usually have a contact number for them. Kids who prefer to use their phones instead of learning their lessons only have one career opportunity - as a toilet-cleaner in McDonalds !
