There are many negative impacts. One is that it releases carbon into the atmosphere, which adds a greenhouse gas. Another is that it alters the water cycle, generally forcing water to run off into one point location, a sewer. It would otherwise be able to seep into the ground and also be transpired back to the atmosphere. Finally, it destroys habitat for a large number of animals that depend on the forest.

When you say consequences they are all positive. When you say impact, they may be positive or negative, such as positive impact or negative impact. But we don't use phrases like positive consequence or negative consequence. But there are surely positive and negative impacts! What do you say?
