Ryan was fired from Dunder-Mifflin at the end of Season 4 because of lying to shareholders about sales the website made, or fraud. After he was released out of jail, Michael brought him back in Season 5 to fill in for Pam after her replacement, Roni, was let go by Michael. Ryan then left Dunder-Mifflin to go to "Thailand" near the end of Season 5, and is found working at a bowling alley by Michael when he is recruiting salesmen for his own paper company. Ryan later reveals in Season 6 he did not go to Thailand, rather Ft. Lauderdale (Florida). Ryan, along with Michael and Pam, where then bought out and given jobs back at Dunder-Mifflin. Ryan was then demoted to temp because there were not enough clients to justify keeping both Pam and Ryan as salesmen. Ryan, as of the end of Season 7, is still employed as a temp at Sabre/Dunder-Mifflin.
