The Percy Covered Bridge at Powerscourt Quebec was built in 1861, only a year or two after the Victoria Bridge in Montreal.
In the 1890s, the Victoria Bridge underwent extensive modifications - its structure was changed completely, except for the pilings in the St Lawrence river.
However, the wooden Percy bridge has retained most of its original materials and its shape, design and architecture to this day.
It thus may be a worthy contender for the title "oldest bridge in Canada still in use".
The Percy bridge with its two spans across the Chateauguay River in Southwest Quebec, still carries most automotive traffic ( in its old age, it is now restricted to LIGHT vehicles of less than 6 tonnes) as well as pedestrians.
