I have used and been around tools for over 50 years and have NEVER seen a double side adjustable wrench. You are either mistaking another tool for this or have very poor descriptive powers.
It is a 5/16" or 8mm wrench. There is no really set wrench for a side terminal battery as long as the wrench makes full contact with the head of the bolt. Many parts stores offer a ratcheting wrench as a side terminal battery wrench, which is essentially nothing more than a 5/16"-8mm wrench that ratchets for tight spaces

The filter is located almost directly underneath the fuel door on the driver's side. Spray some WD-40 on the coupler that fits the fuel line and filter. Let sit for about 10 minutes. You need 2 wrenches to remove the filter on the coupled side or you WILL snap the line. The other side is just a latch. You just pinch in the little buttons and it should come right off. If the wrench on the actual fuel line seems to slip, use a crescent wrench or adjustable wrench. Same thing. I believe the wrench size for the fuel filter itself is 5/8 butI don't recall. Fit a wrench to size with the new filter before removing the old one. Reverse the procedure to install. Oh you will get a little fuel coming out when you remove the old filter. Put a pan or old bowl down to avoid getting fuel all over.
