The half-hour cooking show East Meets West with Ming Tsai premiered on Food Network in September, 1998.

The show starts out with the sounds of Asian Musical Instruments as the host, Ming Tsai dressed in white with his hands clasped in a meditative pose as he bows before the camera.

Then the music switches from an Asian style to a more jazzlike tune, Ming Tsai was still dressed in white as he holds a wok in his hand, but in a tennis outfit.

The next scene cuts to Tsai on the courts.
