In air breathing animals, the lings are the organ system that takes in air and extracts oxygen for distribution through the circulatory system.

In water breathing animals, the gills perform this function.

Those smaller animals that have neither lungs nor gills usually have a system for direct absorption of oxygen from the air, or water.

The lungs do this. When oxygen enters the body it goes to the lungs. They are made up of a connective tissue that allows the body to take the oxygen that it needs. The blood system holds the oxygen and goes through the body in which the heart pumps the blood, and the more oxygen in the body the more energy available to the body.

The lungs oxygenate the blood. The oxygen-filled blood is then pumped to the rest of the body. When the blood is out of oxygen, it goes back to the lungs and is oxygenated again.

What does respiratory system mean?

It is one out of the 12 organ systems of the human body. This system involves the body breathing or inhaling in oxygen or air into the body to give the rest of the body oxygen. The respiratory system is made out of the lungs which takes in oxygen I to the body and takes out carbon dioxide lf the

What saclike organ takes oxygen from the air and delivers it to the blood on an amphibian?

Lungs

What organ absorbs oxygen from the air?

The respiratory system seems like the obvious answer, but you used the word absorb. The respiratory system takes air into the lungs, but the red blood cells (erythrocytes) absorb the oxygen out of the air taken into the lungs. The circulatory system then delivers these red blood cells to the capillaries where the oxygen is traded for carbon dioxide as the cells need.

One organ of the respiratory system?

The most important organ of our respiratory system is the Lungs. The lungs are the organs that extract or absorb oxygen from the air we breathe and fills our blood with life giving oxygen.

Which two organ systems allow oxygen from the air to get to your body's cells?

The respiratory system and the circulatory system. The respiratory system has the lungs bringing in air to your body. Then that oxygen you get is transported around your body via the circulatory system.
