Where can I find out my family crest?

Many web sites can provide information on family crests. Popular sites include: Family Crest Shop, Historical Names and The Tree Maker. Keep in mind that most of these sites will only research family crests with your surname. To ensure that one finds their actual family crest, assuming one exists, one must trace male lineage back to someone who was granted a coat of arms. This lineage must then be verified by a heraldic authority.
