This can be the muffler hanger, a rubber hanger to suspend the muffler or a muffler clamp to tie the muffler in place.
I don't have alot of money and when I first got my 96 my muffler was hanging a few inches from the ground. All you have to do is get metal with holes in it......lift the car...put a cinder block or something under the muffler... and drop the car just enough to put it in place (Use a large jack that you have a handle on...and do it carefully...practice even so you don't screw your car up). Then find a place in the floor panels where the screw won't come through and use the right size screw with a screw gun. You may have to pre-drill the hole.
The 98 cavalier holds 4.25 quarts. of oil approximately. The missing dipstick can cause oil to blow out of the dipstick tube while driving.
You have to hold the trans in place to remove the skid plate.
like a car muffler. Has chambers to hold the exiting pressure wave.

Generally a hold in the muffler will make your car sound excessively loud. Carbon Monoxide may also fill the cab of your car or truck and you should have it repaired as soon as possible to avoid exposure to lethal fumes.
