What is the past progressives?

The past progressive tense expresses an action at a particular moment in the past. The action started before that moment but has not finished at that moment.

It follows this structure:

  • Subject + Was/Were + Present Participle

For example:

  • I was helping Bob with the gardening.
  • They were singing in the school musical.
