Christianity's path is easily defined in The Bible. The basis of it is through choice. Once you have acknowledged god as your lord and saviour, and that jesus died on the cross, it says in the bible that god will slowly change you. There are no rules that you must specifically abide by, but if you are a true christian, you will WANT to live for and follow Jesus's teaching as well as follow the bibles' teaching. Unlike catholocism, you do not get to heaven by works (doing good) and there is no line you have to cross to get to heaven. Jesus Death on the cross for our sins is enough to save us, we just need to acknoledge this, and then submit to our lord, and god will do the rest. But a true christian will want to do good, therefore going off and getting drunk would not be the true mark of a christian.
