It may vary from state to state, but I have worked in night clubs, liquor stores, and restaurants selling alcohol in the state of Florida, and everywhere I've been the 'responsible vendor training' we received instructed us to accept three types of ID as proof of age: driver's liscense, state issued ID card, or a passport (whether or not it was expired was immaterial). TN Govt gives a special offer on 20th July 2012. according to that 2008, 2009 and 2010 expired cards can be renewed. even though they said it is possible through on-line also, but on-line is not accepting the login-id.

Not really. This is because having someting notarized needs validity and since the ID is expired it is not considered valid. Unless you may be able ot find a lawyer that will give you notarization even though it is expired.
I think it would be ok to use a school id but i think it has to have your address and date of birth on it. Also, the Id must be current & active and not expired. Usually school id cards have an expiry date (the date you will graduate from school) and the id is not valid beyond that date
