The percentage yield is the Actual Yield divided by the Theoretical Yield, all multiplied by 100. Percentage = [(Actual)/(Theoretical)] x 100
The expected percent yield is how much product you expect to get for a given experiment. This isn't necessarily theoretical yield, however. Theoretical yield is the amount of product you will get considering that NONE is lost, and the product goes 100% to completion (this omits the equilibriums that occur, i.e. you dont consider the stuff you wont get back, you just assume you'll get all your product) Expected yield is how much product you expect to get. If someone has invented or done the experiment before and says you will get a 56% yield if you follow steps a,b,c,d etc etc, then your expected yield is 56%.

A yield is received after a person does the experiment. Second, they can never be same values. We can only get close to theoretical yield but never attain similar values under normal experimental conditions.
the percent yield be the actual yield (392) divided by the theoretical yield (i calculated 450). 392/450 equals .87 multiply by 100 and the percent yield is 87%.

Theoretical yield is how much product it is possible to obtain, based on a chemical equation. The actual yield is how much product you ACTUALLY obtain from an experiment. Comparing them is important because they can point you toward improving your technique to maximize your yield (which is the usually something to strive for), and it can give you a maximum yield you can expect for a particular experimental technique.
