For 1971 & 1972 Eisenhower dollars, just the "S" mintmarked (uncirculated or proof) issues contain any silver and that's just 40%. None of the coins regardless of date or mintmark made for general circulation contain any silver.
1.5 inches, or 38.1 millimeters.
President and General of the Army Dwight D. Eisenhower, known to everyone by the nickname "Ike". After all, it IS his portrait on the coin....
For 1971 & 1972 only, all S mint marked coins are 40% silver. From 1973 to 1976 the S mint marked coins in the standard proof sets are clad coins, the 40% silver Ike's were sold separately but they were included in the bicentennial 3-piece silver sets. No silver Ike's were struck in 1977 or 1978.

The date 1972 would make it an Eisenhower (or Ike) dollar. A picture of one can be found by running a search through Google Images.
Circulation Ike dollars were never struck in silver. Check the coin's edge - it should show a copper core just like a dime or quarter. In that case it would be worth face value to $1.25 depending on its condition. On the off chance that it's one of the 40%-silver collector's coins that accidentally was spent, it would be worth about $8 for its silver content.
$1 unless it has an "S" mintmark and then it is a 40% silver coin worth silver melt value which at the time of writing is worth about $6.50. But Ike dollars really aren't worth too much to collectors unless they have the "S" mintmark and are silver.
Unless the coin is in a special holder that identifies it as a 40%-silver collector's coin, it's made of copper-nickel rather than silver and is only worth $1. As of 03/2011 a 40%-silver Ike might sell for at least $12 based on its silver content and the fact that it would be an uncirculated coin if it's still in its original holder
Ike Blessitt debuted on September 7, 1972 and played his final game on October 4, 1972.
The copper-nickel coins weigh 22.68 grams. The 40% silver coins weigh 24.59 grams.
It's still worth one dollar.
Sorry, no US dollar coins exist dated 1964. Eisenhower first appeared on the dollar coin in 1971. The coin is likely a 1964 Kennedy HALF dollar. Look at the coin again and post new question.
